I have owned several Davis weather stations. Each of them has performed flawlessly. My current model is the Wireless Vantage Pro. I download my station data to my weather underground and CWOP accounts. In order to do this I was using the serial data link cable. This required my computer to stay online 24 hours a day. I recently purchased the Davis WeatherLinkIP Software for Vantage Pro and Weather Envoy. The WeatherLinkIP LAN connection was extremely easy to hook up. Once installed the station data upload to the Davis web site was immediate. The Davis weather site will quickly connect to the weather underground site and CWOP once your account information is entered. The downside of this product is the data that is uploaded to these websites is not of the same high quality/frequency that the serial link provides. The serial link provided 3-5 minute download intervals and could be adjusted. The WeatherLinkIP has an extremely sporadic download frequency as high as an hour and is not adjustable. Max wind gusts are no longer reported as well. Nowhere in the literature are these performance limitations discussed. I have spent $300 expecting the same high quality performance that I have experienced with other Davis products. I am extremely disappointed and will be reinstalling the serial data link. I have questioned Davis directly about my concerns and was told there are no plans to make any changes to the product.

I have been a fan of Davis Instruments Weather products for years. I have a Vantage Pro that I purchased several years back and used WeatherLink and a PC to create a web site to see the weather at my home. Earlier this year I turned that PC off to save power and with the winter weather I missed the web site I created. But with this great addition I was able to just plug it into my home network and immediately I was able to go to the Web and see the weather at my home… Amazingly easy! I did not have to fuss with my network, just register on line and use it… Simple and Amazing.

When I buy a product which needs connection to the internet, I’m always nervous because my experience has shown me that it NEVER works as advertised.

Well, these guys have proven me wrong. It did work and it worked on the first time. VERY simple and reliable set-up. I am using a satellite connection to the internet and everything went as smooth as it can.

The whole system including the weather station was easy to assemble and still works very well.

    GREAT job.
